Film Screenings at the Ravenna Festival 2012

Ravenna Festival d’essai
Focus on Tibet

The dramatic historical, political and cultural identity issues of the Tibetan
diaspora will be documented and reflected upon in a series of four documentaries
and a feature film made over the last 15 years by independent filmmakers Ritu
Sarin (India) and Tenzing Sonam (Tibet), screened alongside the Scorsese “classic”,
Kundun. They will tell of Tibet’s stubborn resistance to Chinese domination and
its high toll in human lives, but also of the omni-present aura of spirituality and
devotion for the Dalai Lama pervading the country since times of old.
The two directors will exceptionally meet the audience and present their work at the
closing of the season.
