Tibet 2000: Survival of the Spirit

In March 2000, White Crane Films in collaboration
with the Tibet Multimedia Centre, Dharamsala, and the Tibet Parliamentary
and Policy Research Centre, New Delhi, organized Tibet 2000: Survival
of the Spirit, a ten-day festival at the India International Centre
in New Delhi. This was the first major cultural festival of its kind held
in the Indian capital and included film screenings, photographic exhibitions,
the creation of a sand mandala, performances by the Tibetan Institute of
Performing Arts, seminars and panel discussions by well-known writers and
scholars, and a public talk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which drew
a packed audience. Several films were premiered at the festival, including
Martin Scorsese's Kundun and Eric Valli's Himalaya/Caravan.

March 1992
In March 1992, Ritu and Tenzing organized,
in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), London,
a festival of Tibet films. The festival, the first of its kind in the UK,
was a great success and included a range of films that had never been screened
before in London.
